STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS PLANKTON DI SUNGAI BORANG KECAMATAN BANYUASIN I KABUPATEN BANYUASIN SUMATERA SELATAN
The Borang River is a river that crosses the Banyuasin district and Palembang City. The Borang River is used by the community for industrial, transportation, fishing and residential activities. There are differences in activity on the left and right sides of the river, where on the left side there are more residential, residential and industrial activities, so it is thought that this will influence the structure of the plankton community. One biological indicator that can be used to monitor water quality is plankton. The aim of this research is to determine the structure of the plankton community on the left side of the Borang river. The research method used is the Purposive Sampling method using the surrounding environment. Sample identification was carried out at the Ecology Laboratory, Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University using an identification reference book. The research results showed that there were 38 plankton genera consisting of 9 classes, namely the Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae Xanthophyceae, Branchiopoda, Crustacea, Eurotatoria and Monogonanta classes. The diversity index is classified as moderate, ranging from 2.70 to 2.95. The dominance index is relatively low, ranging from 0.07-0.08. The similarity index value between stations has similarities at each station ranging from 55.31%% -69.76%.
