PENGARUH DERAJAT KEASAMAN TERHADAP KEMATANGAN GONAD IKAN KOMET (Carassius auratus Linnaeus, 1758)

The ornamental fish cultivation industry in Indonesia is experiencing rapid growth due to increasing demand. Comet fish (Carassius auratus L.) are fish that are in great demand because of their beautiful shape and color and their resistance to environmental changes. The main challenge in cultivating ornamental fish is the lack of quality seed supply, which is influenced by the maturity of the gonads of the parent fish. This study aims to evaluate the effect of environmental pH on the gonad maturity of comet fish. The results of the study showed that the pH range of 5.5 to 8.2 did not have a significant effect on gonad maturity, but in female fish it was significantly different from the pH of the control treatment (6.5 -7.0), while in male fish the pH of treatment 3 (7.7-8.2) was significantly different from the pH of the control treatment (6.5-7.0) and treatment 2 (7.1-7.6).
