Rheumatic heart disease are significant health issues in Indonesia. The latest information on the prevalence of these two diseases in Indonesia is still limited due to a lack of research. However, it was stated that the number of cases reached 1.18 million in 2015, making Indonesia the fourth country with the highest number of rheumatic heart disease cases in the world, followed by China, India, and Pakistan. The etiology and primary risk factors for RHD are caused by infection with Group A β-hemolytic Streptococcus bacteria. Initial symptoms include sore throat, followed by fever, polyarthralgia, polyarthritis, chorea, and erythema marginatum after 2–4 weeks. This study aims to determine the characteristics of pediatric patients with rheumatic heart disease at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital in Palembang. This study is a descriptive observational study using a cross-sectional design with a retrospective approach.
