Health laboratories play an essential role in managing COVID-19 outbreaks by conducting rapid and accurate examinations to help control additional cases. Accreditation serves as a tool to enhance service quality standards. However, in South Sumatra, 50% of health laboratories have yet to be accredited, necessitating an analysis of the guidance provided by the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office. This study employs qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews, observation, and document review. Findings reveal that: In terms of manpower indicators, there is a coaching team, but the laboratory program manager has never attended specialized training related to accreditation coaching. Financially, funds are allocated for monitoring, evaluation activities, and meetings related to accreditation. However, not all proposed activity plans receive approval. Material indicators are met. Method indicators highlight the need for direct visits to align perceptions between the Health Office and health laboratories, which was not achieved through Zoom meetings. Planning indicators lack routine scheduling for each accreditation coaching activity. Task division organization adheres to the Task Decree. Implementation indicators perform well, despite obstacles such as position mutations within health laboratories. Technical guidance to private laboratories lacks direct visits, but supervision and control indicators include monitoring and evaluation through reports or field visits. Output indicators reveal that only 50% of laboratories are accredited, indicating that interventions by the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office are limited to guidance, supervision, and technical assistance. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the government can provide tax discounts for accredited private health laboratories.
