HUBUNGAN PERAN KELUARGA DAN FEAR OF MISSING OUT (FOMO) DENGAN PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK MAHASISWA TINGKAT AKHIR FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Final year students who are in the early adult phase often feel bored and burdened when completing their final project. This condition encourages students to look for other more exciting activities they want to get involved in leading to Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). When FoMO is uncontrollable, students tend to engage in academic procrastination. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of family roles and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) on academic procrastination of final year students at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. The study used a correlational analytic design with a cross sectional approach. The sample consisted of 167 respondents taken by non-probability sampling of purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and and analyzed with spearman rank test analysis (a = 0.05). The results of this study indicated that there was no significant relationship between family roles and academic procrastination with p-value 0.099 and r = 0.128. There was a relationship between FoMO and academic procrastination with p-value 0.032 and r = 0.166. The role of family is not always a factor that triggers academic procrastination. This can be influenced by the characteristics of the research subjects. Final students with FoMO indications are expected to be wiser in setting up their priorities and controlling themselves as they tend to want to continue to engage in fun activities outside the academics leading to academic procrastination.
