Pasar Sekanak is currently experiencing sparse visitor numbers despite its cultural charm as a traditional market. This decline is largely due to nearby markets offering similar goods, resulting in high competition and decreased visitor interest. To address these issues, a transformation of the market’s function is proposed, leveraging the surrounding area’s potential as a hub for local fruits and snacks, culinary delights, and its scenic waterfront location. The goal is to redesign it into a bustling Tourist Market that preserves its unique waterfront character. The proposed concept is themed around “Waterfront Architecture”. The market’s layout will be elongated yet compact, efficiently utilizing the space. Architecturally, it will blend colonial, rumah limas, and tionghoa architecture styles. The building’s structure will feature steel for the upper parts, concrete columns and beams for the middle, and bore-pile foundations for stability. Moreover, the market’s facilites will include effective lighting, ventilation, plumbing, waste management system, and fire protection. This holistic approach aims to revitalize Pasar Sekanak as a vibrant hub for trade and culinary delights, appealing to both local residents and tourist while contributing positively to the local economy.
