This research aims to describe the communication patterns implemented by Village Officials in the effort to mitigate conflicts between humans and wild elephants in Banyu Biru Village, Air Sugihan District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This conflict constitutes a complex general problem as it involves the safety of the community amidst high economic activity in areas prone to conflict with wild elephants. This study utilizes Joseph DeVito's interpersonal communication theory and employs a qualitative method to obtain the necessary data through observation and in-depth interviews. The results of this study indicate that Village Officials apply a direct interpersonal communication pattern used with the community, aimed at building trust and immediacy so that mitigation information can be understood and adhered to. Furthermore, the Village Officials also play an essential role as a communication bridge from external parties to the community.
