Introduction: The elderly are at risk of hypertension because as they age, the elasticity of blood vessels decreases. The decreased flexibility of blood vessels causes an increase in blood flow resistance which will result in increased blood pressure. In addition, the elderly rarely do physical activity so that it can worsen blood pressure and increase blood pressure. Physical activity therapy such as regular walking can help increase the elasticity of blood vessels, improve blood circulation, and can lower blood pressure in the elderly having hypertension. Objective: This study provided an overview of nursing care for families with the elderly who have hypertension and information about walking physical activity therapy to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Method: The method was qualitative descriptive with a study approach in 3 families having elderly people with hypertension. Results: The results of the study showed that the main diagnosis of the three elderly was ineffective health management. The blood pressure of elderly 1 before the intervention was 210/140 mmHg, after the intervention the blood pressure became 110/75 mmHg; the elderly 1 also said that complaints such as headaches and body like floating disappeared. The blood pressure in the 2nd elderly before the intervention was 160/59 mmHg, after the intervention the blood pressure was 130/94 mmHg. The blood pressure in the 3rd elderly before the intervention was 191/116 mmHg, after the intervention the blood pressure became 136/77 mmHg; the 3rd elderly also said that his headache complaints were reduced. Discussion: The walking physical activity therapy can provide natural flexibility to blood vessels so that the vessels can vasodilate properly as a result of which the high blood pressure in the elderly will decrease and be more controlled.
