ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN PADA PASIEN EFUSI PLEURA DENGAN INTERVENSI DIAFRAGMA BREATHING EXERCISE SEBAGAI UPAYA MENGATASI POLA NAPAS TIDAK EFEKTIF DI RSUP. DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Many nursing problems are found related to ineffective breathing patterns in patients with pleural effusion. This is caused by the accumulation of excess fluid in the pleural space, which, if expanded, will cause shorness of breath and impact oxygen requirements. One of the non-pharmacological nursing interventions that is useful as an effort to reduce the incidence of ineffective breathing patterns is Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE). Objective: Applying nursing care to patients with pleural effusion who have nursing problems of ineffective breathing patterns with a focus on providing Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE) therapy. Method: Case study method in three patients who have complaints of shortness of breath characterized by RR> 24x/ minute, then applying Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE), this intervention was chosen because it is a technique that can increase alveolar ventilation, strengthen the diaphragm muscle, and train patients to breathe using the diaphragm muscle optimally so that air can enter deeper into the lungs, increase oxygen exchange, and reduce shortness of breath. Results: After the intervention was given there were outcomes from efforts to overcome the problem of ineffective breathing patterns including the respiratory frequency in the three patients which became 21x / minute, the breathing rhythm became regular, chest expansion appeared balanced, there were no additional breath sounds, the patient experienced a decrease in shortness of breath. Discussion: Non-pharmacological intervention that is given to patients with pleural effusion is Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE) is an effort to address ineffective breathing patterns. Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE) is highly effective because it is a deep breathing technique that focuses on the use of the diaphragm muscle to increase pulmonary ventilation, deepen inspiration, and reduce the work of breathing. Conclusion: Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE) therapy was able to address the nursing problem of ineffective breathing patterns in three patients, but it cannot be separated from medical intervention. This was evident in the respiratory rate becoming regular, resulting in an effective breathing pattern within three days of treatment at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang. Recommendation: Future researchers can provide Diaphragmatic Breathing Exercise (DBE) intervention not only to patients with pleural effusion but also to patients experiencing respiratory system disorders.
