IDENTIFIKASI KELIMPAHAN MIKROPLASTIK PADA KEPITING BIOLA (UCA SPP.) DI MUARA SUNGAI MUSI SUMATERA SELATAN
Microplastics are plastic particles smaller than 5 mm that are widely found in aquatic environments and have the potential to enter the bodies of aquatic organisms, including crabs. This study aims to determine the abundance, types, and polymer composition of microplastics in Fiddler Crabs (Uca spp.) inhabiting the Musi River Estuary, South Sumatra. The soft tissues of crab samples were digested in 10 persen KOH solution for 48 hours at 60 celcius to separate organic matter, then filtered using Whatman No. 42 filter paper, and analyzed under an Olympus CX33 microscope at 10x magnification. Polymer analysis was carried out using FT-IR (Agilent Cary 630). The abundance of microplastics based on Uca species ranged from 22 to 42.2 particles per species, based on crab weight ranged from 7.8 to 35.8 particles per gram, and based on the number of individuals per station ranged from 27.3 to 41 particles per individual. The types of microplastics found consisted of fibers, fragments, films, and pellets, with fragments being the most dominant type (484 particles). The identified polymer type was Polypropylene (PP). Keywords : FT-IR, Fiddler Crab (Uca spp.), Microplastic, Musi River Estuary
