EFEK MIKROPLASTIK POLIPROPILENA (PP) TUNGGAL DAN LOGAM CD TUNGGAL SERTA KOMBINASI KEDUANYA PADA AKTIVITAS ENZIM PROTEASE KERANG DARAH (ANADARA GRANOSA)
Microplastics and heavy metals are pollutants that can pollute a water area. Microplastics and heavy metals also have effects that can disrupt enzyme activity in the body of biota. This study aims to analyze the effects of single polypropylene (PP) microplastics, single cadmium (Cd) heavy metals, and their combination on protease enzyme activity in blood cockles (Anadara granosa). Blood cockle samples were obtained from the waters of the Musi River Estuary, then maintained in an aquarium with PP microplastics, Cd, and a combination of both for 1, 3, 5, and 7 days. The results showed that single Cd treatment had the highest effect on protease enzyme activity on day 1 (0.00202 mmol/mL/min) and the lowest on days 3–5 (0.00132 mmol/mL/min). Single PP treatment significantly increased on day 5 (0.00209 mmol/mL/min), while the combination of Cd+PP tended to decrease (0.00144–0.00165 mmol/mL/min) below the control (0.00163 mmol/mL/min). In conclusion, exposure to PP microplastics and Cd, both singly and in combination, affected the protease enzyme activity of blood cockles. The combination had the most detrimental effect, namely suppressing digestive enzyme activity.
