Introduction: Hypertension is one of the health problems that often causes complaints of pain in the nape of the neck area due to increased blood pressure and neck muscle tension. One of the effective complementary therapies for reducing pain is Thai herbal compress therapy, which is a method of using a cloth containing herbal herbs such as ginger, turmeric, and lemongrass that is heated, then attached to areas of the body that experience muscle tension. Objective: to apply Thai herbal compress therapy in nursing care to family members who experience neck pain due to hypertension. Methods: This scientific paper uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach in three families with members with hypertension. The nursing care process is carried out through five stages, namely assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, with reference to SDKI, SIKI, and SLKI. Thai herbal compress therapy is given for 10–15 minutes three times a week. Results: After the intervention, the intensity of neck pain decreased in all clients. In addition, families showed increased ability to provide self-care as well as awareness to implement a healthy lifestyle for family members suffering from hypertension. Discussion: Thai herbal compresses work through a combination of heat effects and the content of active ingredients such as gingerol and curcumin which are analgesic and anti-inflammatory, thereby improving blood circulation, reducing muscle tension and reducing pain intensity. Conclusions: Based on these results, the administration of Thai herbal compress therapy was effective in reducing neck pain in hypertensive patients and increasing independence and the role of the family in nonpharmacological treatment. This therapy can be used as an alternative to family-based nursing interventions that are safe, easy, and useful in improving the quality of life of hypertensive patients.
