PENGARUH TERAPI SLOW DEEP BREATHING DENGAN MEDIA MAINAN KINCIR ANGIN UNTUK MENGURANGI NYERI PADA ANAK POST OPERASI DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN KOTA PALEMBANG
Background: Postoperative pain is a physiological response due to tissue damage and activation of pain receptors. This condition can cause discomfort, hinder healing, and affect the physical and psychological condition of childen if they are not treated properly. Pain management can be done pharmacological or nonpharmacologically. An effective non-pharmacological method is slow deep breathing with a windmill toy medium that works through a relaxation mechanisms and shifting focus to pain. Objective: To describe evidence based nursing care for children who suffer postoperative pain through the provision of slow deep breathing therapy with windmill media at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Central General Hospital of Palembang city. Methods: This study used a descriptive approach of a case study on three children having postoperative pain problems. Results: The primary nursing diagnosis was acute pain. The intervention of slow deep breathing therapy with windmills was carried out for three days and showed a decrease in the pain scale in the three patients, namely An. V from 5 to 2, An. F from 6 to 2, and An. Y from 6 to 3, accompanied by a reduction in nonverbal signs such as grimacing, protective, restless, and pale complaints. Conclusion: Slow deep breathing therapy using the windmill media is effective in reducing the intensity of postoperative pain in children and can be used as a simple, cheap, and fun non-pharmacological nursing intervention.
