ANALISIS BLENDING BATUBARA UNTUK MEMENUHI SPESIFIKASI PERMINTAAN KONSUMEN DI PT PUTRA MUBA COAL, KABUPATEN MUSI BANYUASIN, PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
PT Putra Muba Coal is a coal mining company located in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, with two active mining areas, namely the Abimanyu and Pandu pits. These two pits produce coal with different quality characteristics, such as calorific value, ash content, moisture, and sulfur content, which pose challenges in meeting spot market demand, particularly for shipments of 8,500 tons. To date, the company has relied on a trial-and-error method for coal blending, which is considered less optimal in achieving consumer specification requirements. Therefore, this research aims to analyze a more systematic coal blending strategy by applying linear programming using the simplex method with POM-QM for Windows V5 software. The main parameters used in the simulation include total moisture, ash content, sulfur content, and gross calorific value. The simulation results generated two alternative blending formulations: Formulation 1, which focuses on meeting consumer specifications with an average calorific value of 2,747.43 kcal/kg and an estimated selling price of USD 178,755 or Rp 2,956,250,190.00; and Formulation 2, which emphasizes increasing sales revenue with an average calorific value of 2,756.29 kcal/kg and an estimated revenue of USD 183,401 or Rp 3,033,085,738.00. Thus, the application of the simplex method proved more optimal compared to the trial-and-error approach, as it improved stock utilization efficiency while meeting consumer specification standards. In addition, the layered stockpiling method with a horizontal layered blending technique is recommended for field application due to its simplicity, effectiveness, and compatibility with the equipment available on site.
