Indonesia still faces many complex problems, especially those related to housing and the sanitary conditions of residential environments. The lack of proper housing sanitation has led to a decline in the quality of environmental sanitation in residential areas as a whole. Flats in sub-district 23 Ilir Palembang are flats where there are still many problems related to inadequate residential sanitation, starting with waste management methods, the availability of healthy latrines and waste water disposal facilities that have not been properly and correctly patterned as well as the physical condition of the flats. The type of research carried out in this research uses a qualitative approach using a descriptive analytical research model through in-depth interviews. This research method will be carried out using indepth interviews with 18 informants and field observations will be carried out. The results of the research were that there were no waste management facilities available, waste water disposal facilities that flowed directly into the gutter, having a latrine that did not comply with the requirements for a healthy latrine and having a physical condition of the house that was no longer suitable for habitation. The conclusion of this research is that the flats in Kelurahan 23 Ilir can be said to be no longer suitable for habitation because they have poor sanitation seen from the way waste is managed, waste water is disposed of in the gutter, unhealthy latrines and the physical condition of the house is no longer good.
