PERBANDINGAN PENGARUH EDUKASI MENARCHE MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA KOMIK DENGAN MEDIA BOOKLET TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN SISWI DI SDN 02 INDRALAYA UTARA
Menarche is the first sign of puberty that often causes anxiety among young girls, especially those with limited knowledge about it. Many experience fear and perceive menstrual blood as something dirty and uncomfortable. This condition occurs due to a lack of understanding, causing them to be unprepared both physically and psychologically. Therefore, menarche education should be provided before the first menstruation to help them face these changes with readiness. This study aimed to determine the difference in the effect of menarche education using comic and booklet media on the knowledge of female students at SDN 02 Indralaya Utara. The comic and booklet media were developed using Canva, based on aspects of knowledge about menarche. The study employed a pure experimental design with a pretest–posttest with control group design approach. A total of 44 students in grades III–VI were randomly divided using stratified random sampling into two groups: the comic group and the booklet group. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to assess differences before and after the intervention, and the Mann–Whitney test to compare between groups. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge in both groups (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The Mann–Whitney test obtained a p-value of 0.149 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant difference between the two media. The booklet and comic were effective because both presented information in an engaging, easy-to-understand way that matched the students’ cognitive development level. In conclusion, both comic and booklet media were equally effective in improving students’ knowledge about menarche and can be used as educational tools for reproductive health among early adolescent girls in elementary schools.
