Background: Mental disorders are a common health problem that continues to have a significant impact on the lives of individuals and families. One common mental disorder is schizophrenia, characterized by impaired thinking, emotions, and behavior. Patients with schizophrenic often exhibit a risk of violent behavior due to an inability to control their emotions. This condition can be harmful to themselves, others, and the surrounding environment. Appropriate treatment is essential to help patients achieve emotional stability and adaptive behavior. One non-pharmacological therapy that can be used to help clients manage the signs and symptoms of violent behavior is assertive training therapy. Objective: To provide an overview of the application of assertive training therapy as an intervention in psychiatric nursing care for schizophrenia patients at risk of violent behavior. Method: This study used a qualitative research method with a case study approach on 3 schizophrenia patients with the same characteristics, namely having the potential to commit violent acts, being cooperative during the treatment process, and being able to communicate well verbally well. Assertive therapy was carried out for three days, and on the third day an evaluation was carried out using an observation sheet containing signs and symptoms of risk of violent behavior. Results: The analysis results showed that there was a decrease in signs of risk of violent behavior before and after being given assertive training therapy. Discussion: The assertive training therapy can help patients improve their ability to control emotions and express feelings appropriately, thereby reducing the risk of violent behavior in schizophrenia patients. Conclusion: Providing the assertive training therapy effectively reduce signs and symptoms of the risk of violent behavior in patients, as indicated by the significant decrease in each patient after the intervention.
