ANALISIS PERILAKU MAHASISWA SEBAGAI PENGGEMAR GAME ONLINE MOBILE LEGENDS: BANG BANG DALAM KOMUNITAS UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
This study analyzes the behavior of Sriwijaya University students as fans of the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) using a qualitative phenomenological approach through in- depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The results show that students’ involvement in MLBB is not only for entertainment but also serves as a means of forming social identity, enhancing communication skills, teamwork, and community solidarity. Two dominant playing patterns were identified: casual play for relaxation and competitive play aimed at improving rank and participating in tournaments. The MLBB community functions as a social interaction space that expands friendships across faculties and provides opportunities for students to develop themselves as event organizers, coaches, or community media managers. Positive impacts include improved digital literacy, strategic thinking skills, and time management, while negative impacts include potential disruption of academic focus and difficulty managing time when playing excessively. This research contributes to understanding the social dynamics of students in the digital era and serves as input for universities to support digital student activities in a balanced manner. Keywords: student behavior, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, campus community, phenomenology, social interaction
