Background: Preterm labor is labor that occurs between 20 weeks and 37 weeks of gestation. The prevalence of preterm labor is increasing and complications are high. Complications of preterm labor are the leading cause of death of children under 5 years of age and cause about 1 million deaths each year. Untreated risk factors are one of the causes of the increased prevalence of preterm labor and the risk of causing complications. This study aims to determine the prevalence and distribution of risk factors for preterm labor. Methods: This study is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. The data used in this study were secondary data with the total sampling method from the medical record data of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hospital for the period January 1 2020 - December 31 2023. Results: There were 1654 cases of preterm labor with the period January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2023. The distribution of risk factors obtained by mothers with risky age (35) years (31.7%), multiparous and grandemultiparous parity (41.7%), multiple pregnancies (6.6%), history of premature rupture of membranes (25.4%), polyhydramnios (1.3%), history of cesarean delivery (25.4%), hypertension (33%), diabetes (2.5%), anemia (47.9%), infection (42.8%), history of preterm delivery (13.7%), risky gestational distance (10.6%), history of antepartum hemorrhage (25%), obesity (14.5%). Conclusion: The number of deliveries continues to decrease but the prevalence of preterm labor continues to increase from 2020-2023, the highest prevalence of preterm labor was 36.52% in 2023. Anemia is the most common risk factor found in mothers with preterm labor at 47.9%. Keywords: prevalence, preterm labor, risk factors
