Hajj is one of the obligations for Muslims. Hypertension is the second most common disease in Indonesian hajj pilgrims that can threaten health during the pilgrimage. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of hypertension in candidates hajj pilgrims at the Sukarami Health Center, Palembang City in 2023. This research used a cross-sectional study design. The data used in this study were medical records of candidates hajj pilgrims at the Sukarami Health Center, Palembang City in 2023. The sample in this study amounted to 229 people, data analysis using chi-square test and binary logistic regression test. Candidates hajj pilgrims who suffered from hypertension were 132 people (57.6%). Factors associated with hypertension were age (p < 0.05; OR: 1.946; CI 95%: 1.141-3.319), gender (p < 0.05; OR: 2.058; CI 95%: 1.208-3.507), education (p < 0.05), occupation (p < 0.05; OR: 1.913; CI 95%: 1.124-3.255), body mass index (p < 0.05; OR: 4.513; CI 95%: 1.665-12.232), and uric acid level (p < 0.05; OR: 2.137; CI 95%: 1.174-3.887) with the dominant factors being body mass index (p < 0.05; OR: 5.417; CI 95%: 1.924-15.253) and age (p < 0.05; OR: 2.494; CI 95%: 1.406-4.424).
