Nurses are at risk of exposure to diseases transmitted through blood or body fluids (bloodborne pathogens) in various ways, one of which is through needlestick wounds that accidentally penetrate the skin, known as Needlestick Injury (NSI). This wound can be caused by various types of needles, such as hypodermic needles, needles for blood collection, intravenous stylets, and connecting needles from intravenous infusion system. This NSI incident still often occurs in health workers, especially nurses in hospitals, which occurs duet o various factors. The potential danger for nurses who are exposed to NSI can cause HBV, HCV, and HIV infections. This study aims to determine the determinant factors of the Needlestick Injury incident in nurses at Besemah Regional, Pagar Alam City. This study was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design using the Chi-Square statistical test and Logistic Regression using statistical software. The data collection tool used a questionnaire. The samples of this study were 64 nurses. The result of the study showed that there was a relotionship between the variables of recapping needles (p = 0,002), work stress (p = 0,000) and there was no relationship between age (p = 0,965), gender (p = 0,788), length of service (p = 0,523), level of education (p = 1,000) and knowledge level (p = 0,958). The result of Logistic Regression showed that work stress (p = 0,000) was a determinant factor for the incidence of NSI in nurses at RSD Besemah Regional Hospital, Pagar Alam City an OR value of 22,50. Work stress experienced by nurses can reduce the quality of their performance and increase the risk of NSI incidents when providing nursing care to patients. Keywords : Work Accidents, Needlestick Injury (NSI), Nurses. Bibliography : 103 (2008-2024)
