Picky eating is a condition in which children consume only certain types of food and refuse to try new ones, a behavior commonly found among preschool-aged children, typically between 4–6 years old. One of the factors influencing the occurrence of picky eating is the level of maternal knowledge. Mothers with low levels of knowledge about nutritional intake and eating patterns are at a higher risk of having children who are picky eaters, which may also lead to nutritional problems in children. This study aimed to analyze the effect of FIPER media (Flipchart Information About Picky Eater) on mothers’ knowledge regarding picky eating in children. The FIPER media had previously undergone a media validity test by media experts and obtained a total score of 91%, categorized as “highly valid”. FIPER is a health education medium considered effective in improving knowledge, as it combines concise text with engaging illustrations and allows direct interaction between educators and participants. This study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 33 respondents selected through a combination of non-probability and probability sampling methods. The results of the marginal homogeneity test showed an increase in maternal knowledge after the intervention, with a p-value = 0.000, indicating that FIPER media had a significant effect on improving mothers’ knowledge about picky eating. In this study, health education was delivered using the FIPER media, which contained information about picky eating. The effectiveness of the FIPER media in improving mothers’ knowledge is attributed to its visual, concise, and easy-to-understand presentation, which helps participants receive and retain the information more effectively.
