PENERAPAN TERAPI BERMAIN MEWARNAI PADA ANAK HOSPITALISASI DENGAN MASALAH KEPERAWATAN ANSIETAS DI RUANGAN SELINCAH 2 RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Anxiety is an emotional response in the form of excessive worry and fear of uncertain situations. In hospitalized children, the anxiety often arises as a result of unfamiliar environments, medical procedures, and separation from their parents, which cam hinder healing and decrease adherence to therapy. Coloring therapy is one of the nonpharmacological interventions to reduce anxiety. Objective: To describe the implementation of coloring play therapy in reducing the anxiety of children undergoing hospitalization in Selincah Room 2 of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital of Palembang. Methods: This case study used a descriptive case study design on three children who went through the hospitalization anxiety. The data were collected through observations, interviews, and measurements of anxiety levels with the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS). The coloring intervention was carried out for three consecutive days, 15 to 20 minutes each. Results: After the coloring play intervention, the anxiety levels of the three children decreased from moderate to mild. The children appeared be more relaxed, cooperative, and less afraid of medical procedures. Conclusion: Coloring play therapy is effective in reducing anxiety in children during the hospitalization and can be used as a nonpharmacological intervention in pediatric nursing care.
