EVALUASI PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI BEBERAPA POPULASI JAGUNG GENERASI F1 HASIL PERSILANGAN AKSESI UNSRI DENGAN JAGUNG UNGU
This research aims to determine plants growth and yield characteristics, to identify plants that are the result of crossing between Unsri accessions with purple maize, and to produce F2 generation seeds. Research was done in collaboration with farmer in Sako, Palembang from January–May 2022. This research uses Randomized Complete Block Design with three plant accessions and three blocks with 75 cm x 25 cm plant spacing. Data analysis was done on plants that produce purple kernel color with Anova and LSD 5% with SAS Program. There are 93 plants with purple kernel color out of 360 plants. The color purple in kernel then categorized into four types or subpopulations, namely purplish-yellow (A), dark purple (B), purple (C), and yellowish-purple (D). Most plants have kernel color in dark purple category (68 plants) and purple stem color (90 plants). The Anova analysis shows that plant height, ear height, days to tasseling, days to silking, days to harvest, ear length, ear weight, kernels weight per ear, 100 kernels weight per ear, and kernels number per ear on plants with purple kernel has no significant difference among three accessions. As for ear diameter, the Anova analysis shows there is significant difference among three accessions. The yield potential of purple maize is 6.67 ton/ha for UJ1xU, 7.02 ton/ha for UJ2xU, and 7.10 ton/ha for UJ3xU.
