POLITIK KEKERABATAN DI DESA MEHANGGIN KECAMATAN MUARADUA KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ULU SELATAN
Kinship politics is a condition in which political power and positions arecontrolled by family members or close relatives of individuals already in power. Thisoften occurs through the practice of nepotism, where the incumbent village headappoints or promotes his or her family members to strategic positions such as villageofficials without regard to their competence. This research aims to analyze howkinship politics in Mehanggin Village, Muaradua Subdistrict, South Ogan KomeringUlu Regency. This research uses the theory of kinship according to Levi-Strauss. Thisresearch uses a qualitative descriptive method with 8 main informants, and 3supporting informants. The data collection techniques in this research are interviewsand documentation. The researcher acts as a non-participant. The resuits of thisstudy are that the phenomenon of kinship politicscan occur due to the strong supportof kinship capital relations in society and the strength of economic capital, so that itis expected to facilitate the continuation of certain family powers at the village level,this kinship politics is often passed down from generation to generation and certainJamily members so that they dominate in the village government structure.
