Representation is about the process of re-imagining a meaning from the media thatcanrefer to the reality of people's lives. One way to elevate it is through the film.Film are able to provide information that reaches a wide audience so that theybecome the right media to provide information about issues that occur in people'slives. One of the issues that can be raise wasregarding toxic parents in the filmcalled Mother (2020). This issue seems to be interesting to be raise in order to findout the form of toxic parent. Semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce used in theresearch with triangle model consist of representament, object and interpretant. Ishows that toxic parenting occurs on the basis of parents' traumatic experiences andthe uneffective two-way communication between the parents, which lead to negativeimpact on the child such as making it difficult for them to make decisions in his life.
