Research on artificial feed for striped snakehead fish has been carried out a lot at this time, but several studies show striped snakehead fish have not been able to utilize artificial feed efficiently. One way to increase feed efficiency and growth of striped snakehead fish is by adding L-Carnitine in feed. L-Carnitine functions as a transfer of long chain fatty acids to mitochondria to be oxidized and is able to reduce the fat content of the liver and muscle, and it can increase fish growth. This study was conducted to determine the effect of adding L-Carnitine in feed formulation on growth and feed efficiency, and to determine the best percentage of L-Carnitine in feed formulation for striped snakehead fish. This research was conducted at Basic Fisheries Laboratory, Aquaculture Program Study, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, on May-June 2023. The research used a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The treatment to be given is addition of L-Carnitine in feed formulation with different percentages including, 0% (P0), 0.10% (P1) and 0.20% (P2). The results showed that the addition of L-Carnitine 0.10% in feed formulation was the best percentage which produces absolute weight growth of 0.34 g, absolute length growth of 1.13 cm, protein efficiency ratio of 0.56, feed efficiency of 29.60%, and survival of 83.3%. Water quality parameters measured during the research were temperatures ranged from 28.0-31.2°C, pH ranged from 6.4-7.2, dissolved oxygen ranged from 3.40-4.13 mg L-1 and ammonia ranged from 0.013-0.052 mg L-1.
