PERAN KOPERASI DALAM MENINGKATKAN PENDAPATAN PETANI KELAPA SAWIT DI DESA MAKARTI MULYA KECAMATAN MESUJI KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ILIR
The income disparity between plasma farmers and independent farmers in the oil palm plantation sector highlights the importance of economic institutions such as cooperatives in promoting farmers' welfare. Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD) have great potential to strengthen farmers' positions through the provision of production services, marketing, and financing. This study aims to: (1) Identify the roles of KUD Marga Mulya in Mesuji District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency; (2) Analyze the income differences between plasma and independent oil palm farmers in Makarti Mulya Village, Mesuji District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency; and (3) Measure the relationship between the role of KUD Marga Mulya and the income of plasma oil palm farmers in Makarti Mulya Village, Mesuji District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The research was conducted in Makarti Mulya Village, Mesuji District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Data collection took place in December 2024. The research method used was a survey, with sampling carried out using proportionate stratified random sampling involving 84 respondents (42 plasma farmers and 42 independent farmers). Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews, and then analyzed using the Likert scale and Spearman correlation test. The results showed that the role of KUD Marga Mulya in five indicators price stabilization (score 27.98), savings and loans (27.95), provision of production facilities (27.50), marketing of harvests (26.12), and transportation services (26.33) was categorized as high. There was a significant difference in income levels, with plasma farmers earning more than independent farmers, with a gap of IDR 22.025.088 Moreover, the Spearman test results showed a statistically significant positive correlation (r = 0.899 p < 0.001) between the cooperative’s role and plasma farmers’ income. These findings confirm that cooperatives can serve as strategic instruments in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of oil palm farming.
