Criminal Act of Human Trafficking (TPPO) of migrant workers from South Sumatra poses a significant threat to society, exacerbated by inadequate information from state actors. This study focuses on the securitization of human trafficking, particularly Indonesian migrant workers from South Sumatra during 2020-2023. The research aims to explore the legal protection provided by the government to human trafficking victims, specifically in South Sumatra Province, using securitization theory and qualitative research methods with data triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that: 1) securitization actors involved include the president, ministries, etc., 2) speech acts during the study period, 3) referent objects, 4) existential threats, and 5) extraordinary measures taken by each actor. Malaysia emerges as the primary destination country for these crimes. Various securitization steps have been implemented by actors such as the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BP2MI, and BP3MI South Sumatra to combat syndicates and secure the safety of citizens, particularly those seeking employment in Malaysia from South Sumatra. Enhanced coordination among actors is crucial for more effective handling and prevention of TPPO, leveraging the authority of each institution to achieve broader positive impacts. Keywords: Securitization, Human Trafficking, Indonesian Migrant Workers, Malaysia
