The contamination of vegetables is predominantly linked to inadequate food handler hygiene, insufficient environmental sanitation practices, and the use of substandard equipment throughout the washing and serving processes. Raw vegetables, especially cabbage, can act as potential vectors for transmitting SoilTransmitted Helminths eggs, in addition to exposure from contaminated water, feces, and soil. Cabbage is particularly vulnerable to contamination due to the crevices in its leaf structure, which can trap worm eggs. Soil-Transmitted Helminths are intestinal parasites that depend on soil for the maturation of their eggs and subsequent development into infectious forms. This study aims to investigate the relationship between food hygiene and sanitation practices and the prevalence of soil transmitted helminths eggs in cabbage salad sold at pecel lele stalls in the Indralaya Utara Subdistrict in 2025. A cross-sectional study design was adopted, incorporating 40 samples from pecel lele vendors selected via purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed utilizing both univariate and bivariate statistical methods, with a particular focus on the chi-square test through appropriate statistical software. The findings indicate a significant association between the presence of soil transmitted helminths eggs in the cabbage salads and two key factors: the practices of washing vegetables (p-value = 0.050) and the sanitation of equipment (p-value = 0.039). Conversely, no significant relationships were identified between soil transmitted helminths egg presence and hand washing behavior, nail cleanliness, sanitation of the stall environment, or the presence of flies. In conclusion, the results suggest that vendor practices concerning equipment and vegetable handling notably influence the prevalence of soil transmitted helminths eggs. It is recommended that vendors consistently wash vegetables using clean water, scrub the surfaces thoroughly to eliminate contaminants, maintain proper hygiene of hands and nails, ensure robust sanitation of tools, and minimize the presence of flies within their stalls to reduce the risk of egg contamination.
