DIPLOMASI BUDAYA INDONESIA MELALUI LITTLE INDONESIA DI KOTA SOMERSWORTH
Diplomatic relations between the United States and Indonesia have existed for more than 50 years, and have provided enormous economic and tourism development for both countries. This diplomatic relationship has become an increasingly close relationship, marked by the existence of the Indonesian Diaspora in the United States. Based on data, there are more than 200,000 Indonesian citizens living in the United States. This diaspora provides an identity that Indonesia is present in the United States as a representative nation in Uncle Sam's country and provides opportunities for cultural diplomacy. This research aims to discuss cultural diplomacy through Little Indonesia, which is a cultural preservation project in the City of Somersworth, United States. The concept used is based on cultural diplomacy by Simon Mark by analyzing the dimensions of Actors and Government Involvement, Objectives, Activities, and Audiences, using qualitative methods, and sourced from primary and secondary data. The results of this research show that the cultural diplomacy carried out through the Little Indonesia project was quite successful in providing a great opportunity for Indonesia to promote culture to the United States, because apart from introducing Indonesian culture abroad, this also had an impact on the economic and tourism sectors for both countries. Apart from that, cultural diplomacy through Little Indonesia can create mutual understanding (mutual respect) and facilitate cooperation in various other fields.
