PENGARUH ACIDIFIER EKSTRAK BUAH LEMON LOKAL (Citrus limon L. Brum F) TERHADAP POPULASI BAKTERI ASAM LAKTAT USUS AYAM KAMPUNG UNGGUL BALITNAK (KUB)
Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) is a group of microorganisms that play an important role in maintaining intestinal health, improving digestive efficiency, and preventing colonization of pathogenic bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of natural acidifier derived from local lemon fruit extract (Citrus Limon L. Brum F) on the population of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in the digestive tract of KUB chickens. The research was conducted for 12 weeks at the Poultry Experimental Stables of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study consisted of 5 treatments with 4 replicates in each treatment. The treatments were P0 (water without treatment), P1 (Drinking water + lemon fruit extract acidifier pH 2), P2 (Drinking water + lemon fruit extract acidifier pH 2.5), P3 (Drinking water + lemon fruit extract acidifier pH 3), P4 Drinking water + lemon fruit extract acidifier pH 3.5). Data analysis was performed using ANOVA. The observed variables were bacterial isolation, bacterial characteristics. The results showed that the addition of lemon fruit extract acidifier was not significantly different (p>0.05) on bacterial isolation. The results of bacterial characteristics showed that the form of bacteria varied, namely coccus and bacillus, in the catalase test only P0 was gaseous, which means it was positive for the enzyme catalase. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the provision of acidifiers to lactic acid bacteria has not been able to affect the intestines of chickens.
