English has become an essential global language, and speaking proficiency is one of the most important skills for effective communication. This study investigates the perceptions of English Education students at Sriwijaya University regarding the effectiveness of YouTube in improving their English-speaking skills. The research employed a quantitative descriptive design, with data collected through a questionnaire distributed to 128 students from the second and fourth semesters. The questionnaire consisted of 18 items covering five categories: use and exposure to YouTube, perceived improvement in speaking skills, learning motivation and engagement, independent learning and accessibility, and overall perception. The findings revealed that students had highly positive perceptions of YouTube as a supplementary learning tool. Most participants agreed that YouTube enhanced their pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, and confidence in speaking English. Furthermore, YouTube was perceived as motivating. enjoyable, and easily accessible, enabling students to learn independently at their own pace. Students also expressed that YouTube should be integrated more into classroom learning to complement traditional teaching methods. Overall, the study concludes that YouTube plays a significant role in supporting the development of English-speaking skills and serves as both an independent and classroom learning resource. The results highlight the importance of utilizing digital platforms to foster more engaging and effective language learning experiences. Keywords: English Education, Language Learning, Quantitative Descriptive, Speaking Skills, Students’ Perception, YouTube.
