HUBUNGAN LITERASI KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT DENGAN INDEKS DMF-T PADA SISWA USIA 12 TAHUN DI SDN 89 PALEMBANG
Background: The prevalence of dental and oral problems, especially cavities in South Sumatra, is quite high at 45.6%. One of the causes is due to behavior that ignores oral hygiene. This is based on the lack of dental health literacy in children so that there is a lack of information about the importance of maintaining oral health. The prevalence of cavities can be assessed by the caries index, namely the DMF-T index. The age of 6-12 years is a very critical age group for the occurrence of permanent dental caries and the 12-year age group is designated as the global monitoring age for dental caries. Objective: To determine the relationship between oral health literacy and DMF-T index in 12-year old students at SDN 89 Palembang. Methods: This study used an analytic survey method with a cross sectional design. The study population amounted to 132 children aged 12 years with a sample size of 74 children using the total sampling method.
