Human trafficking is a complex transnational crime that requires structured international cooperation. This research discusses the cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in addressing human trafficking from 2020 to 2023. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through literature review and documentation, this research examines the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and UNODC through shared objectives, interdependence, coordination and communication, formal mechanisms, as well as the implementation and compliance within their partnership. Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with UNODC, has undertaken several initiatives across various areas, including strengthening national capacity through meetings, workshops, and the establishment of the National Referral Mechanism (NRM). Saudi Arabia has also ratified international legal instruments, demonstrating its legal commitment to international cooperation. Furthermore, in partnership with UNODC, Saudi Arabia has developed a digital system for the National Referral Mechanism (e-NRM). This cooperation is considered effective in building a national system aligned with UNODC standards and has contributed to Saudi Arabia’s improved ranking in the Trafficking in Persons Report.
