STRUKTUR DAN KOMPOSISI VEGETASI MANGROVE DI ARBORETUM DESA SUNGSANG IV BANYUASIN SUMATERA SELATAN
Mangrove vegetation structure reflects the spatial distribution, density, and size of trees in an ecosystem. Vegetation composition refers to the diversity and ecosystem of species in an ecosystem. This study aims to determine the structure and composition of mangrove vegetation in the Arboretum of Sungsang IV Village, Banyuasin, South Sumatra. The study was conducted from February to March 2025 using the quadrat method with purposive sampling of plots. There were five observation plots with three different sizes based on growth phase: 10 × 10 m² for the tree phase, 5 × 5 m² for the sapling phase, and 2 × 2 m² for the seedling phase. Identification of mangrove species was carried out to determine the species composition, while the vegetation structure was analyzed quantitatively based on the parameters of density, frequency, dominance, and Importance Value Index (IVI). The results showed that there were four types of mangroves in the study location, namely Sonneratia caseolaris, Nypa fruticans, Excoecaria agallocha, and Acrostichum aureum. The structure of mangrove vegetation is dominated by Nypa fruticans, which has the highest IVI compared to other types. This finding provides an overview of the condition of the mangrove ecosystem in the Arboretum and can be a basis for conservation efforts.
