The maintenance of lathes in the educational laboratory plays a crucial role in supporting the effectiveness of student practical learning. This research aims to develop a preventive maintenance guidebook based on best practices for lathes in the Mechanical Engineering Education Laboratory of Sriwijaya University. The method used is the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research instruments include expert validation questionnaires for content and media, as well as trial questionnaires for 43 students. The validation results show a validity level of 83% by content experts and 87% by media experts, both of which fall into the very valid category. Meanwhile, the trial results show 91%, indicating that this guidebook is considered very practical in enhancing students' understanding of lathe maintenance. Thus, this guidebook is expected to serve as an integrated learning medium in technical practices, as well as to encourage the establishment of a preventive maintenance culture in the educational laboratory environment.
