ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS TERHADAP KRITIK SOSIAL PELANGGARAN HAK ASASI MANUSIA DALAM FILM DOKUMENTER YOU AND I
Documentary is one of the media that contributes to the formation of a discourse in society and representing social realities that are often invisible in dominant narratives. This study aims to examine how the discourse functions as a form of social criticism toward human rights violations in the documentary You and I. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and applies the Critical Discourse Analysis theory developed by Norman Fairclough. In critical discourse analysis, Norman Fairclough has 3 dimensions of analysis, text analysis, discourse practice analysis, and social practice analysis. The results of the study show that discourse makers reveal structural injustice, social stigma and marginalization experienced by the survivors of the 1965 tragedy. Through visual depiction, personal narrative and cinematic approach, the documentary You and I seeks to critically examine past violence and the enduring impacts of human rights violations, while emphasizing the importance of ensuring justice and fulfillment of victims’ rights. Therefore, the documentary You and I functions not merely as an audiovisual creation, but also as a tool for advocacy and symbolic resistance to injustice.
