HUBUNGAN ANTARA HARDINESS DAN STRES AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA KEDOKTERAN UMUM
This study aims to examine the relationship between hardiness and academic stress among medical students. The hypothesis proposed in this research is that there is a relationship between hardiness and academic stress in medical students. The population of this study consists of medical students. A total of 304 students participated as the main sample, and 55 students were involved in the trial (try-out) phase. Sampling was conducted using a non-probability sampling technique in the form of accidental sampling. The instruments used were a hardiness scale based on the theory of Kobasa, et al. (1982), and an academic stress scale adapted from Sun, et al. (2011). The results of data analysis showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.711, indicating a significant negative relationship between hardiness and academic stress, with a moderate correlation strength. The strength of the correlation was moderate, suggesting that higher levels of hardiness are associated with lower levels of academic stress, and conversely, lower levels of hardiness are associated with higher levels of academic stress. Thus, the proposed hypothesis is accepted.
