PRAKTIK SEKOLAH DI PERDESAAN (STUDI DI KECAMATAN MUARA TELANG, KABUPATEN BANYUASIN, SUMATERA SELATAN)
This study aims to describe educational practices in rural schools in Muara Telang Subdistrict, Banyuasin Regency, using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of arena, habitus, and capital. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The results of the study indicate that educational practices in rural areas occur within a unique social context, influenced by difficult geographical conditions, limited infrastructure, the economic background of farming families, and a habitus shaped by a culture of hard work and simplicity. Student habitus is also closely linked to dominant ethnic identities, namely Malay, Javanese, and Bugis, each of which brings cultural values in their perception of education. Schools adapt policies flexibly, including granting leniency for tardiness due to bad weather and tolerance for student absences to assist parents in their work. This study confirms that schools in rural areas are not merely venues for implementing the national curriculum but also social arenas that mediate educational policies with complex local realities.
