STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI DINAS PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN DAN PERLINDUNGAN ANAK PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN DAL AM MENCEGAH PELECEHAN SEKSUAL TERHADAP ANAK DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Child sexual abuse is a serious problem that requires attention and appropriate handling. This study aims to determine the communication strategy of the South Sumatra Province Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office in preventing child sexual abuse in Palembang City. The research method used was qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and document studies. This study refers to Scott Cutlip's Persuasive Communication Theory. The results indicate that the South Sumatra Province Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office routinely conducts outreach, counseling, and education in schools, as well as community empowerment initiatives. However, several shortcomings in the communication strategy exist, such as social stigma that considers discussing sexual abuse taboo, a lack of interaction during outreach activities, and low public awareness of the importance of prevention. This research is useful for understanding the communication strategy employed, and it is hoped that the South Sumatra Province Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office can more actively utilize social media, improve its reporting hotline services, and periodically evaluate the program to enhance communication effectiveness.
