AKURASI PEMERIKSAAN FUNDUS AUTO-FLUORESCENCE DALAM MENDETEKSI EDEMA PADA MAKULOPATI DIABETIK
Introduction: Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a complication resulting from abnormal changes in vascular permeability that can occur in patients with varying degrees of diabetic retinopathy severity. Fundus autofluorescence (FAF) is a sophisticated tool that has significantly increased its use to assess posterior segment pathology, but few studies have evaluated its accuracy in DME patients. To determine the accuracy of FAF in detecting edema in diabetic maculopathy patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang. Methods: This study is a diagnostic test to assess the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and precision of FAF in detecting edema in diabetic maculopathy patients, using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) as the gold standard. A minimum sample size of 60 participants was obtained. The sample selection method used was total sampling. Results: This study found an average sample age of 53.17 years, with a majority of the sample consisting of females (58.3). The sensitivity value was 69.4, the specificity value was 66.7, the accuracy value was 69.2, and the precision value was 97.7. There were significant differences in the FAF group in both horizontal and vertical edema measurements (p-value: 0.000). There was a significant difference between the FAF and OCT groups in vertical edema diameter measurements (p-value: 0.041). Meanwhile, the results of this study also showed a significant difference between the FAF and OCT groups in horizontal edema diameter measurements (p-value: 0.010). Conclusion: The sensitivity and specificity values were found to be quite low in the FAF examination using OCT as the reference standard. Each sensitivity and specificity value in this study was below 70. Keywords: Diabetic Macular Edema, Fundus autofluorescence, Accuracy, Optical Coherence Tomography.
