PERSEPSI MASYARAKAT KAYUAGUNG TERHADAP BUDAYA SETAKATAN
This study aims to determine the perception of the Kayu Agung community towards the culture of setakatan (elopement) which is still practiced in the Morge Siwe community, Kayu Agung, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with the theory of constructive perception by Gregory (1997), and analyzed community perceptions based on three main dimensions, namely, cognitive, affective and conative. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, traditional leaders, the younger generation and couples who had practiced setakatan. The results of the study showed that perceptions of setakatan were greatly influenced by generational and economic factors. In the cognitive dimension, the older generation tends to view setakatan as a violation of customary norms, while the younger generation views it more as a form of freedom to choose a partner. From the affective side, the older generation tends to show feelings of disappointment and rejection of this practice, while the younger generation shows feelings of relief and happiness because this practice is acceptable. In the conative dimension, the older generation shows an attitude of rejection and encourages customary sanctions, while the younger generation tends to support or even practice setakatan as a form of resistance to social and economic pressures. In general, Setakatan Culture can be accepted by the Kayuagung community, both the older and younger generations, and this reflects the life of the Kayu Agung community in facing changing times without losing its traditional identity.
