Boy Kelvin Y. Sihombing, The Crude Fiber Content, Nitrogen-Free Extract, Ash, Organic Matter of Pakchong Grass Silage, with EM-4 (Effective Microorganisms) and Molasses (Supervised by Arfan Abrar) Silage is one of the forage processing techniques used in animal feed production that can extend shelf life and prevent forage spoilage during storage. The purpose of silage technology is to preserve the nutritional quality, or ideally improve the quality, of the feed. In this study, the silage process was conducted using treatments involving the application of EM-4 (Effective Microorganisms-4) and molasses as fermentation starters. The quality of the resulting silage is supported by the type of starter used during fermentation. A good starter promotes successful fermentation, thereby significantly reducing the failure rate compared to silage made from a single ingredient. Thus, treatments such as EM-4 and molasses are essential, as they have been tested and widely used in previous research. This study aimed to examine the levels and quality of Crude Fiber, Nitrogen-Free Extract (NFE), Ash Content, and Organic Matter in Pakchong Grass silage inoculated with molasses and EM-4. The research was conducted from October to November 2024 at the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Animal Production Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The study employed a proximate analysis using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 5 replications. P0 consisted of untreated Pakchong Grass (Control); P1 consisted of Pakchong Grass + Molasses; P2 consisted of Pakchong Grass + EM-4. The variables observed in this study were the percentages of Crude Fiber, Nitrogen-Free Extract, Ash Content, and Organic Matter. The results showed that for the Ash Content parameter, the values were: P0 (control) = 16.77%, P1 (Molasses) = 14.75%, and P2 (EM-4) = 16.65%. For Organic Matter, the results were: P0 (control) = 76.38%, P1 (Molasses) = 79.35%, and P2 (EM-4) = 78.35%. Crude Fiber content was: P0 (control) = 22.63%, P1 (Molasses) = 23.36%, and P2 (EM-4) = 27.88%. For Nitrogen-Free Extract, the values were: P0 (control) = 43.51%, P1 (Molasses) = 45.46%, and P2 (EM-4) = 38.03%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the Ash and Organic Matter parameters showed significant effects, whereas Crude Fiber and Nitrogen-Free Extract parameters did not show significant differences. Keywords: Ash, Crude Fiber, Grass,Nitrogen-free Extract, Organic Matter, Pakchong, Proximate Analysi, Silage.
