BIODIVERSITAS IKAN DI SUNGAI PUTAK KECAMATAN GELUMBANG KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
The species diversity of fish in an aquatic ecosystem serves as an indicator of environmental health. To date, no study has been conducted on the diversity of freshwater fish species in the Putak River. This research aimed to determine the fish diversity in the Putak River. The method used was direct observation with fish sampling at three stations during the transitional season (dry to rainy season). Fish were collected using traditional fishing gear (cast nets, gill nets, traps, and hand lines). Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed the presence of 18 fish species belonging to 9 families and 14 genera. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index values were 2.64, 2.64, and 2.52 at stations 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The evenness indices were 0.93, 0.93, and 0.91, with the highest dominance index recorded at 0.1. Additionally, a high similarity in fish communities was observed among the three stations. Based on these results, the Putak River has a moderate level of fish diversity with relatively even species distribution. These findings may serve as a basis for conservation efforts and sustainable management of fishery resources.
