PROFIL EFIKASI DIRI PROSOSIAL DITINJAU DARI IDENTITAS BUDAYA LOKAL SISWA SMA
Character education plays a crucial role in shaping students' personalities, one of which is through the reinforcement of prosocial self-efficacy and local cultural identity. Prosocial self-efficacy refers to an individual's belief in their ability to voluntarily help others, while local cultural identity reflects students' attachment to cultural values and norms inherited within their social environment. This study aims to describe the profile of prosocial self-efficacy among senior high school students in relation to their local cultural identity. The research was conducted at SMAN Sumatera Selatan using a descriptive quantitative approach. A total of 109 students were selected through convenience sampling. The instruments used were Thurstone and Likert scales to measure prosocial self-efficacy and local cultural identity. The results show that the majority of students fall into the moderate category for both prosocial self-efficacy (71%) and local cultural identity (71%). Students demonstrated the highest confidence in the aspect of Anonymous Helping, but tended to score lower in Responsive Helping. As for local cultural identity, the highest scores were found in Ethnic Group Loyalty, while the lowest were in Cultural Knowledge. In terms of gender, female students scored significantly higher in both prosocial self-efficacy and local cultural identity compared to male students. However, no significant differences were found between Grade X and Grade XI students on either variable. There was a significant positive correlation between local cultural identity and prosocial self-efficacy (r = 0.521; p < 0.001), indicating that the stronger the students’ local cultural identity, the higher their prosocial self-efficacy. These findings highlight the importance of integrating local cultural values into guidance and counseling services to support the development of students’ prosocial character.
