REPRESENTASI OBJEKTIFIKASI PEREMPUAN PADA SERIAL WEB MAIN API
Objectification of women in media, as portrayed in the web series Main Api (2024), remains a persistent issue, often veiled through subtle aesthetics. This series presents the objectification of women through sexualized poses, being treated as tools, experiencing harsh treatment, and being captured through certain camera angles. The aim of this research is to explore how the representation of women's objectification is portrayed in the web series Main Api by using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The study employs a qualitative approach that yields descriptive data through the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes. The data source in this research is the Main Api web series, with data collection conducted through documentation, such as selected scenes from the series. Based on the observations and research conducted, the findings indicate that objectification of women in this series is represented through the camera's focus on sensual body parts such as the chest, lips, thighs, buttocks, and waist. Women in the web series are frequently depicted wearing revealing clothing, are often denied their autonomy, portrayed as weak, helpless, and dependent on male characters. They are also subjected to harsh treatment, both verbally and physically. Moreover, this study provides recommendations for students, the general public, and future researchers.
