Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out in four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that interpersonal communication between therapists and parents was formed through the application of the principles of Openness, Empathy, Supportiveness, Positive Feelings, and Equality. The principle of equality is an important foundation in communication, where all parties deserve to be in an equal position in communication. When therapists apply the principle of equality, parents will automatically be open to accepting the role of the therapist as their interlocutor in communication. Without equality, openness is only a one-sided demand.
