ANALISIS MANAJEMEN STOCKPILE DALAM UPAYA MENCEGAH TERJADINYA POTENSI SWABAKAR BATUBARA DI PT BUMI BARA MAKMUR MANDIRI JAMBI
his study aims to analyze stockpile management systems to prevent spontaneous combustion of coal at PT Bumi Bara Makmur Mandiri Jambi. Spontaneous combustion is a critical issue that can lead to material loss, reduced coal quality, and pose environmental and safety risks. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, literature review, and analysis of primary and secondary data. The findings reveal that the current stockpile management practices are inadequate, characterized by improper stacking methods, insufficient temperature monitoring, and inconsistent application of the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) system. Contributing factors to spontaneous combustion include extended storage time, high stockpile height, high volatile matter and moisture content in coal, inadequate compaction, and poor drainage systems. To address these risks, several recommendations are proposed, including the implementation of FIFO management, routine temperature monitoring, compaction of stockpiles, height reduction, and optimization of drainage channels. This research is expected to serve as a reference for developing effective stockpile management strategies to prevent spontaneous combustion, enhance operational efficiency, and comply with safety and environmental standards in coal mining operations, particularly in tropical climate regions such as Jambi
