PENERAPAN HAND AND FOOT MASSAGE PADA PASIEN POST SECTIO CAESAREA DENGAN MASALAH NYERI AKUT DI RUANG ENIM 2 RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Caesarean section is a surgical procedure performed by a specialist surgeon and obstetrician where the surgical location is in the abdomen within the mother's womb, creating an exit for the baby. The problem that arises from caesarean section is pain. The pain experienced by mothers post-caesarean section is acute pain that requires immediate management. One of the interventions that can be performed to reduce pain is hand and foot massage. Purpose: To apply hand and foot massage in nursing care for mothers post-caesarean section with the nursing problem of acute pain. Method: The method used in writing this scientific paper is descriptive qualitative research in the form of a case study. Results: There are five nursing problems identified in the three post-caesarean patients, with the main nursing problem being acute pain. The outcomes of hand and foot massage, which was performed for three consecutive days on the three patients for 20 minutes each day, showed that all three patients reported a reduction in pain, with a pain scale of 1 (mild pain). Discussion: Hand and foot massage has physiological benefits for the body, including: improving blood circulation, making the body relaxed, reducing pain, and speeding up recovery from pain. Hand and foot massage is a therapy that can have an effect on pain response by reducing or alleviating pain scale in post-caesarean patients.
